AI Training Opt-Out Watermark Generator
Protect your images from AI training by adding visible opt-out watermarks. Preset text, symbols, tiling, and batch support — all processed in your browser.
About This Tool
The AI Training Opt-Out Watermark Generator helps creators, photographers, and artists protect their work by adding visible watermarks that signal images should not be used for AI or machine learning training. While metadata-based opt-out methods like robots.txt and the C2PA standard exist, a visible watermark adds an unmistakable human-readable layer of protection that survives file conversions, screenshots, and metadata stripping.
This tool offers several preset messages including "DO NOT USE FOR AI TRAINING", the Japanese equivalent "é¿ãã¬ã¼ãã³ã°禁止", "NOT FOR AI/ML", and customizable copyright notices. Beyond text, you can overlay built-in SVG symbols — a robot-prohibition icon, a "NO AI" badge, or a shield icon — to convey the message without relying on any specific language.
Watermarks can be placed in four layout modes: repeating tile (which covers the entire image making it nearly impossible to crop out), centered, diagonal, or in the four corners. Adjust opacity from 10–90%, choose white, black, or red coloring, and rotate from −45 to +45 degrees. Band mode adds a semi-transparent stripe across the image for additional emphasis.
Batch processing is fully supported. Upload multiple images at once and the same watermark configuration is applied to every file. Download individually or all at once. Everything runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API — no image data is ever uploaded or transmitted.
If you need a general-purpose text watermark, try the Image Watermark tool. To inspect or strip metadata before sharing, use the Image Metadata Viewer. For verifying file integrity after watermarking, the Hash Generator can produce checksums of your output files.
How to Use
- Click the upload area or drag and drop one or more image files (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP). Multiple files enable batch mode.
- Choose Text or Symbol watermark type. For text, pick a preset message or switch to Custom to enter your own. For symbols, select from the robot-prohibition icon, NO AI badge, or shield.
- Optionally enter a name in the copyright field and click Apply to use a "© Name" watermark.
- Select a Position: Tile for full-image coverage, Center, Diagonal, or Corners.
- Adjust Opacity (10–90%), Font Size (auto-scale or manual), Color (white/black/red), and Rotation (-45° to +45°) to balance visibility and aesthetics.
- Toggle Band Mode to overlay a semi-transparent stripe for added emphasis.
- Choose PNG or JPEG output, then click Download (or press Ctrl+Enter). For batch processing, click All to download every watermarked image. Use Copy (Ctrl+Shift+C) to send the current image to your clipboard.

FAQ
Is my data safe?
Yes. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. No image data is uploaded, stored, or sent to any server. You can verify this by checking the Network tab in your browser’s developer tools while using the tool.
Does a visible watermark legally prevent AI training on my images?
A visible watermark alone is not a legal mechanism. However, it serves as a clear, human-readable declaration of intent. When combined with metadata opt-out signals (such as the AI training tags in IPTC or C2PA), copyright notices, and terms of service, a visible watermark strengthens your position. Some jurisdictions are developing laws that recognize visible opt-out markers.
What is the best position setting for maximum protection?
Tile (repeating) mode provides the strongest protection because the watermark covers the entire image, making it nearly impossible to crop or clone-stamp away. Combine it with moderate opacity (30–40%) and a diagonal rotation for the best balance of visibility and image usability.
Can I process multiple images at once?
Yes. Upload multiple images using the file picker or drag and drop. The same watermark configuration is applied to every image. You can download them individually or use the “All” button to download every watermarked file in sequence.
What image formats are supported?
You can upload any browser-supported format including PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, and BMP. Output can be saved as PNG (lossless) or JPEG (with adjustable quality).
Can I use both text and symbol watermarks together?
The tool currently applies one watermark type at a time (text or symbol). To layer both, apply a text watermark first, download the result, then re-upload it and apply a symbol overlay on top. For general multi-layer text watermarking, the Image Watermark tool supports multiple simultaneous watermark layers.
Will the watermark survive if someone takes a screenshot?
Yes. Unlike metadata-based protections that are stripped when someone screenshots an image, a visible watermark is baked into the pixel data and will appear in any screenshot, re-upload, or format conversion.
