Invoice Generator

Generate simple, professional invoices with line items, tax calculation, and PDF export. Perfect for freelancers and small businesses.

About This Tool

The Invoice Generator is a free, browser-based tool designed for freelancers, contractors, consultants, and small business owners who need to create clean, professional invoices quickly. Fill in your business details, add line items with descriptions, quantities, and rates, and the tool automatically calculates subtotals, tax, and the grand total.

The live preview panel shows exactly how your invoice will look when printed or saved as PDF. Use the built-in Print / PDF button to open your browser's print dialog, where you can select "Save as PDF" for a digital copy or send it directly to a printer. The entire invoice is formatted with a clean, professional layout optimized for both digital viewing and paper output.

For quick sharing via email or messaging, the Copy as Text feature generates a plain-text version of your invoice that preserves all the details in a neatly formatted layout. This is especially useful when you need to include invoice details in an email body rather than attaching a file.

Multiple currencies are supported including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, and CHF. The tax rate field is flexible, accepting any percentage from 0 to 100 to accommodate different regional tax requirements.

All processing runs entirely in your browser. No invoice data is sent to any server, and no account or signup is required. Your financial information and client details remain completely private. This pairs well with the Tech Salary Converter for calculating your hourly rate, the Meeting Cost Calculator for understanding project meeting costs, and the QR Code Generator for adding payment QR codes to printed invoices.

FAQ

Is my data safe?

Yes. All invoice data is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No information is sent to any server. Nothing is stored -- when you close or refresh the page, all inputs are cleared. Your financial and client information remains completely private.

How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

Click the "Print / PDF" button or press Ctrl+Enter. In the browser print dialog that opens, select "Save as PDF" as the destination instead of a printer. This works in all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Can I add my company logo?

The current version focuses on clean text-based invoices. For branding, you can add your company name and address in the From section. The minimalist design ensures the invoice looks professional across all printers and PDF viewers.

What currencies are supported?

The tool supports USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, and CHF. Currency formatting follows standard international conventions including proper decimal places and currency symbols.

Can I use this for recurring invoices?

While the tool does not automatically save or schedule invoices (since no data is stored), you can quickly recreate recurring invoices by keeping your details consistent. For frequently used templates, consider bookmarking after filling in your standard details.

How is the tax calculated?

Tax is calculated as a simple percentage of the subtotal. Enter your tax rate (e.g., 10 for 10%) and the tool calculates the tax amount and adds it to the total. For complex tax scenarios with multiple rates, you can add tax as a separate line item.

What keyboard shortcuts are available?

Press Ctrl+Enter to open the print dialog for PDF export. Press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy the invoice as plain text to your clipboard.
